HOLY WEEK RETREAT 2022
A Time for Prayer, Reflection, and Discussion
“The summit of the whole liturgical year is in the sacred Easter Triduum of the Passion and Resurrection of the Lord.” Paschale Solemnitatis, #2 Together, let us gather for a mountaintop experience. Let us open our hearts to listen to Christ’s message for us this year. Let us be attentive to our fellow parishioners and support each other as we journey this year together.
Signs and symbols. Silence and singing. Death and life.
The liturgies of Holy Week invite us to reflect on what it means to live as a Catholic Christian in the world today. As we gather to celebrate, we take the time to break open the Scriptures, hymns, and ritual actions that make up the Sacred Triduum. By doing this, we search our hearts and unite them to the heart of Christ as we enter more fully into the Paschal Mystery – all of life’s sufferings, deaths, and risings.
This year, consider being a part of a small community of parishioners that will gather in prayer, reflection, and discussion. Together, we will prepare our hearts, celebrate the mysteries, and unpack their meaning in our lives. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that liturgy is the privileged place for catechesis (1074). Our faith is echoed to us in these celebrations and they instruct us how we are to live as missionary disciples in our community. On this pilgrim journey, we serve as companions and catechists to each other.
“…through liturgical signs and sacramentals, [the Church] is united to Christ her Spouse in intimate communion.” Paschale Solemnitatis, #38
