  • Summer Speaker Series

God Is That You? Hearing God's Voice in a Modern World

    August 4, 11 & 18 • 6:30pm • Bell Tower Lawn • English

Join us beginning Tuesday, August 4, for our new three-part summer speaker series, held on the first three Tuesdays in August from 6:30–7:30pm on the Bell Tower Lawn. Together, we'll explore what it means to hear God's voice and practice discernment in today's world.

We kick off the series with a timely presentation by Dr. Emilio Lehoucq, a data scientist at Northwestern University with a Master's in Statistics and a Ph.D. in Sociology focused on the sociology of artificial intelligence.

In his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo calls the Church to thoughtfully engage the realities of AI not with fear, but through prayerful discernment rooted in the Gospel. Drawing on the Pope's teaching and the broader Catholic tradition, Dr. Lehoucq will offer practical insights for faithfully navigating artificial intelligence in our daily lives. Whether you work directly with AI or simply encounter it through tools like Google, Gmail, or ChatGPT, you'll leave with concrete ideas for engaging this rapidly changing technology with wisdom, prudence, and faith.

Bring your questions, comments, and concerns! We hope you'll join us for this timely and thought-provoking evening!
